2024 collection

February to June, 2024.

I would like to introduce you to my latest collection I call 'GARDEN FLOWERS'. This collection of flowers come from my wife's wonderful green thumb and attentiveness to grow beautiful roses in our garden in Ladysmith. The majority of this show comes from our garden roses this past summer of 2023. The work titled ‘Little Sister’ is from my sister-in-law's property and had to be included in this collection for its unique contrast and beauty. I also reworked a couple of older works 'A Souvenir' & 'Fall' which I have never done before for a new show but felt they complemented the works, so they had to be included.

I hope you enjoy!

Opening Reception

Thursday, October 26th, 5pm- 8pm

After My 2022 Solo Show 'SOLITUDE' was released, I have been able to find a lot of levity in my personal life. 2022's show was a dark, honest theme that allowed me to let go and be able to step into a new phase of my life. In the tone of this new phase is my 2023 series.

I call this this latest body of work 'REBIRTH'

These works capture the beauty of my floral potential in celebrating life!

Every month is represented by a birth flower, sometimes two!

I'm excited for you to come see the opening on Thursday, October 26th. At 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery. Unfortunately I will not be there in person but I know you will enjoy the show!

So head to (link) to get your order in for the Birth Flowers calendar  for 2024!

With my latest show titled ‘Rebirth’ at the 14Bells Fine Art Gallery in Halifax I wanted to celebrate the gift of life! A flower or two for every month of the year. A great present idea for anyone and everyone. This show will consist of 24 new original paintings and from this I created my calendar! Original works from the Rebirth collection can be purchased through 14Bells Fine Art Gallery. I do recommend getting on 14Bells early bird list if you would like an opportunity to get your hands on one of these works before the show opens October 26, 2023! Good luck and thank you so much for your support!

POSTER 2022 solo show.jpg

Before I start putting together a show I have an over arching theme I wish to convey. I wanted to share a side of me that is as much a part of the positive as the negative.

My aim was to expose this side of me in a group of images that were deep but palatable.

My works come from two places love and darkness and this show is the darkest yet since my days in art school.

I feel I'm reaching down into my younger self with all the silence of social isolation. Sifting over my life on where I have come from, where I am, and where I want to go. This series is not what is expected of me but is a part of what makes my lively beautiful flowers so positive and colourful.

Depression for me has been like a thin dark thread woven through the tapestry of my being weighing down some of the best moments. With big positives inevitably come the big negatives crashing and burning right after. Ebbs and flows like my first big art sale or my next art opening. Self doubt has often been incapacitating but at the same time self doubt is important in my life as a need for humility and room to grow no matter how hard growing can be.

This series is an antidote to the noise of depression and as a way to create space in solitude.

The Show will be hanging at the FORTUNE GALLERY in Victoria, British Columbia

' THE ANN SERIES ' By Tylor McNeil

The Ann Series is the second instalment in a floral collection from my 2017 series of the same name.

I want the works to embody the most positive moments I had shared with my mother growing up.

The Florals were chosen to Symbolize growth along with those more positive moments I had shared with my mother. With This second instalment of the Ann Series the colours, while still soft and ethereal are more infused with a brightness of these same colours representing an openness and positivity in embracing changes with finding more solid footing in the world as a male, an artist, son, husband, and especially as a father.

"100 Years of Community" an exhibition and sale featuring art from gallery and community artists. The artists were asked to create pieces that celebrate the history and vitality of North End Halifax since December 1917 when the Halifax Explosion rocked the city and forced a rebuild and reimagining of a neighbourhood. I can't wait to see what they create.
